Chiang Mai International Balloon Fiesta 2012 will be held between the 20th and 22nd January 2012, on the Activity Field, at Sansailuang Local Administration Office.

After four successful years of holding the annual International Balloon Fiesta in Pattaya, this year’s fiesta will be held in Chiang Mai for the first time.

This event will be in celebration of the 84th birthday of His Majesty the King.

More than 20 balloons from all over the world will be participating, with pilots from Belgium, France, Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia, The Netherlands, Switzerland, United States of America, Vietnam and Thailand.

The balloons will  start on Friday around 4pm , saturday 6.30am + 4pm and sunday 6.30am + 4pm.

There will be a spectecular nightglow every evening.

The best way to get there from town is to take the GREEN TAXI from Warrarot/flower market,they go to San Sai and stop at the festival area. If you want to come with your own transport from town take the road 118 direction DOI SAKET ,cross the second ringroad and turn left at the next traffic light (San Sai market) on road 1001.  Follow 1001 and go straight on the next traffic light to cross road 121.  Continue for 700 meters and you will find parking signs for the fiesta.
